On March 7, Yves Hess from Swiss Curling provided fascinating insights into how data is used to analyze and improve performance in curling. Thanks to everyone who joined – it was an engaging discussion!
On December 2, Edoardo Ghezzi, FC Lugano’s data analyst, gave us an exciting look into the world of football analytics. With clear diagrams and detailed analyses, he broke down the performance of UEFA Conference League teams and showed how data plays a key role in shaping decisions in Swiss football.
On November 22, our Ice Hockey Analytics event featured Mattia Stendahl and Martin Kierot, performance coaches of the ZSC and GCK Lions. They shared insights into their work managing player load using LPS tracking on the ice and measuring progress and fitness through advanced methods like jump plate tests. The event provided a fascinating look into the data-driven techniques shaping modern hockey training.
Cycling HACK 2024 was a great success, showcasing the innovative spirit of eight teams that pitched data-driven solutions to improve cycling safety in Zurich. Congratulations to the winners, Daylight ASAP, for their effective approach to enhancing cyclist visibility at high-risk intersections. On April 23rd, our club hosted Prof. Dr. Heinrich Nax for an insightful talk on game theory in tennis, with a focus on the minimax strategy. He presented fascinating studies, and we discussed the sport's evolution and the growing importance of analytics and coaching.
We are pleased to announce that everyone in their current positions was reelected during our recent general assembly. A warm welcome to Tim Keller and Jan Lemke, who have been elected as board advisors.
